Karabakh conflict should be solved through dialogue - UN - 2010-10-19

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has attended a joint press conference with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland to mark the occasion.

Asked what the UN intended to do about Armenia's failure to implement four UN resolutions and withdraw from Karabakh, Ban Ki-moon said the conflict should be resolved peacefully and through dialogue.

"There are a lot of conflicts in the world and these conflicts, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, should be solved through dialogue and in a peaceful way."

"In parallel, the progress of dialogue between Turkey and Armenia encourages us. The OSCE Minsk Group is carrying out out its mediation mission to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the UN is ready to contribute to a peaceful solution to this conflict," Ban said.
